HELIDECK PERIMETER
SAFETY NET DROP TESTING

There are two types of testing that we provide; a drop load test or a Frictape® strip test. The perimeter netting on each helideck will be identified if it is suitable for a drop load test. For Malaysia operations where offshore testing is accepted, 125 kg loads will be dropped from 1 meter height onto the netting including its panel and frames. We have a portable crane available if the crane on the platforms/vessels is not reachable. For locations that adhere to not having the test conducted offshore, we accept sacrificial panels to be sent to our warehouse for testing. Some country regulations may require the testing be completed with double loading (250 kg) to meet the Safety Factor of 2.

For helidecks equipped with a Frictape® perimeter netting system, we can have the strip to be sent to us for the strip test. Any other method of load test to obtain the minimum equivalent measurement of 2.3 kJ impact may be accepted on a case-by-case basis but shall obtain CAAM approval in advance.
