HELIDECK
DESIGN CONSULTATION

Whenever an offshore helideck does not meet the criteria in either ICAO Annex 14 Volume II, or CAP 437, or a change is required to the helideck environment, it is advised that the case should be referred to a helideck consultant company to get the appropriate guidance and information. Apart from the helicopter operators, SYLMAX HCS is highly capable to assess problems and issues raised so that the helideck is safe for helicopter operation. With trusted consultant involvement, the process of authorising the operation of a helideck by the Authority can be expedited.

Preliminary stage consultation with SYLMAX HCS can be considered essential and incorporated into the newly-built helideck design philosophy which will promote safe and flexible helicopter operations. Changes must not restrict the physical characteristics and obstacle-protected surfaces of the helideck.

For newly-built helidecks or major modifications made to the existing helideck installations that may influence helicopter operations, Helideck Design Considerations in CAA Paper 2004/02 is available as guidance to assist helideck owners.
